Paintable parts
All SnapHouse parts are manufactured with a textured matte plastic surface that take paint easily. Two coats of an acrylic paint purchased from an arts supply store works especially well, as seen here with our painted Black and Yellow A-Frame House.
Simulated wood
Easily transform your white plastic model to simulated wood siding and flooring with one lightly applied coat of brown paint. Or experiment with blending several light layers of different earth-tone colors as seen here in our Mountain Cabin model.
Luis Barragán
We went bold with paint colors on this model inspired by visits to the colorful midcentury modern homes in Mexico City designed by the renowned architect Luis Barragán.
Barragán famously utilized bold tones like hot pink, cobalt blue, deep purple, and warm yellow, influenced by his childhood memories of Mexican culture.
John Lautner
We added some fun customizations on our futuristic-looking pool house inspired by the angular roof lines of architect John Lautner's Sheats–Goldstein Residence in California.
We customized the model with 1/16" laser-cut clear acrylic sheets to create the window wall and pool water, and used a black Sharpie pen to add mullions to the window wall.
Frank Lloyd Wright
After a visit to Fallingwater in Mill Run, PA, SnapHouse inventor Michael Kuhn relished the challenge to build a scale model replicating Wright's residential masterpiece.
The original's cantilevered terraces were considered engineering feats when constructed in 1936, as they also might seem in this scale model.
